Tomoyo, Kyou, and Nagisa

I don’t remember when the last time it was that I wrote a blog entry, but I think with some recent happenings, I figured that it’s a good time as any to do one, or perhaps two.Well, with the new series that have started in Japan, there are a few that have caught my eye. One of which has added another favorite anime girl to my list.

Tomoyo Sakagami. I actually noticed her character first when I saw the game trailer for Tomoyo After – It’s a Wonderful Life, the Key/Visual Arts spinoff to Clannad. What’s great about her? Beautiful and definitely kicks ass. See pictures in this post (note: one linked is a fanart by someone; definitely NOT work safe). I have the actual Clannad PC game which I just bought this past summer at Otakon, thanks to a good friend of mine who travels frequently to Japan to pick up product for his business and who happens to be one of AQS’s translators. For the time being, I have decided to hold off on playing the PC game since there is an English translation for the game in progress, and I think the wait will definitely be worth it. Besides, I’m already working on both Little Busters and ef – the first tale currently. Although I understand very little Japanese, the translation program I’ve resorted to is better than nothing, and I have a least a pretty good idea of what’s going on. And if you’re wondering, yes, I bought the actual games themselves for these two.

Other series that I’m currently following are ef – a tale of memories (which AQS is subbing), Ninomiya-kun, Shana S2, Myself;Yourself, and Da Capo II. On DVD, just started up on Hell Girl (Jigoku Shoujo), Welcome to the NHK, finishing off AIR TV, and gradually catching up on my backlog of stuff. I swear after I take my next exam which will actually be in about a week, it’s time to marathon some of my series on DVD that I have on backlog.

So anyways, more on Tomoyo. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the anime series will present her story, since the Clannad game did lead into a spinoff with her “After Story” from what I’ve been told, since the lead character is in this game as well. I swear, Sunohara (in the above picture, look for the pair of legs sticking out of the bushes) is asking for it whenever he tries to get the upper hand on Tomoyo, even trying to get her to admit that she’s a guy and she decks him/lays him out each and every time with her power kicks. Those scenes so far have made me laugh, but at the same, I’m hoping that they’ll show a hint of attraction between her and Tomoya in the series, though it’s more likely going to be aimed more towards Nagisa, which isn’t a bad thing since she’s an adorable character. Dango dango~

The Clannad Movie is set to be released in March on Blu-Ray and DVD, so I am interested in how the movie was structured as opposed to the TV version, especially since Tomoyo seems to be the friend who has to look after the main character, Tomoya on occasion versus what we’ve seen of the TV series so far.I’ll have to start looking for more Clannad merchandise since I’ve recently been informed that Kotobukiya (I don’t even know if I’m spelling that right) is re-releasing the Clannad 1/8 figures and will be adding new ones as well.

I’ll probably write more as the anime TV series goes further into the other characters’ stories. For now, I leave you with some image goodness. I’ll probably add a few more later.
